About Your Dentist
Dr. Anish Patel grew up in England, moved with his family to Texas at age 13, and then settled in Florida when he was 16. He has been here in Florida ever since. Dr. Patel completed his undergraduate degree in biology at the University of Central Florida in Orlando. He went on to receive his Doctorate of Medicine in Dentistry from NOVA Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale.
Shortly after graduation, Dr. Patel started a dental practice in Jacksonville, FL. He soon realized that he did not want to raise children in such a big city. He and his wife toured all of Florida and discovered the Emerald Coast. They found this area to be perfect for their family. They relocated here in 2011, and Dr. Patel plans to finish out his career here.
To offer comprehensive care in one location, Dr. Patel has completed specialized training in many aspects of dentistry he provides at Panama City Smiles, including:
- Progressive Orthodontics, a three-year advanced training course in orthodontics
- Advanced training in implant dentistry
- Hundreds of hours of continuing education courses for specific aspects of cosmetic, restorative, and other types of dentistry
The most rewarding part of his job is sharing in the joy of his patients when they see their treatment results for the first time. When he removes braces and his patients see their straight smiles, they are so happy! Restoring implants for someone who had missing teeth is very special to Dr. Patel, too. He finds it exciting to watch the transformation during the process and to see how proud the patient feels when they're able to smile again.
Dr. Patel loves having a career that lets him work with people. He sees dentistry as a way to help people improve their lives and the way they feel about themselves. It also provides a way to give back to the community and leave the world a better place. He strives to have a positive impact on every single person who walks through the doors, whether they go through treatment or not.
Dr. Patel has been happily married to his wife, Kamini, for more than 10 years. They have two beautiful daughters, Neeti and Sunehri, and a son, Vivaan. When he is not working, you might find him playing cricket and spending time with his family at the beach or in the Pier Park area. He also enjoys daddy-daughter dates with his girls, spending time outdoors, playing soccer, and visiting lots of bookstores.
Dr. Patel is looking forward to meeting you personally and helping you discover the smile you have always wanted!
A native of the Emerald Coast, Dr. Trae Pappas grew up in Fort Walton Beach, FL, where he attended Fort Walton Beach Senior High. He went on to Louisiana State University, where he earned his bachelor's degree in biological sciences with a minor concentration in business management. He earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS) from Louisiana State University School of Dentistry in New Orleans, where he graduated at the top of his class.
Modern dentistry is a rapidly advancing field, and Dr. Pappas stays on the cutting edge. He has advanced training in:
- Advanced cosmetics, including veneers
- Periodontal surgery
- Endodontics (root canals)
Along with the entire team at Panama City Smiles, Dr. Pappas is finding new ways to understand and maximize the body's healing capacities. He is also incorporating newer, stronger, and more esthetic materials. Because he is always striving to learn, he has been awarded his Fellowship in the International Congress of Oral Implantologists and has been a member of the American Dental Association, Florida Dental Association, American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, Academy of General Dentistry, and the National Dental Practice-Based Research Network.
Dr. Pappas regularly attends courses and seminars at the local and national level, spends several hours every week reading the latest dental journals, and studies to stay advanced on the newest techniques and technologies. He believes this time investment is necessary to deliver the highest standard of care to his patients.
Dr. Pappas is an avid sportsman who enjoys all the coast has to offer, whether fishing, surfing, kiteboarding, or paddleboarding. When he's not outdoors, he enjoys going to church, practicing the piano, and playing with his Boykin Spaniel, Ellie Mae.
When possible, he volunteers his time and talents to charities. In 2014, he was able to deliver oral hygiene supplies and instructions to more than 70 orphans in the mission project Hope to Haiti, which he encourages others to support. He also served on a board to help the Emerald Coast Autism Center build a new school on the Northwest Florida State College campus.
